This gorgeous Antique Konya Tulu Rug incredibly rare semi-antique Konya Tulu rug was created in Turkey's Konya Karapinar in the 1940s! Fantastic historical work. 100% organic vegetable dyes used on pure real goat's hair. It is called Tiftik (Mohair). Hand-spun wool warp. It is a handmade rug that is unique.
Primitive wool was used to weave the ancient long piled Tulu. Due to their incredible warmth, these lovely pieces from Anatolia were used as sleeping mattresses or blankets for centuries.
This Antique Konya Tulu Rug Turkish Kilim is very exceptional and rare pieces. Because the creator of this Kilim was a very young lady who prepared it for her own dowry and it is never used.
Antique Konya Tulu Rug is created exclusively for personal use and were never fashion-driven. This explains why obscure ancient and old-world symbolism has persisted throughout the ages in the Tulu culture. The colours will mellow as Tulus age and wear, and the piece will look better. The piece becomes more valuable as it gets older. In a traditional, transitional, or modern design setting, tulip bulbs make a stunning statement.
Tulu is the English pronunciation of the Turkish word "tüylü," which means hairy.
The weaving technique is very similar to "gabbeh" in Iran, "Beni Ourain" rugs in Morocco, and "ryijy" in Finland.
This piece has an exceptional and special design by young lady for her dowry.
Antique Konya Tulu Rugs is woven in mountainous regions for utilitarian rather than commercial purposes, so it has a dense pile to ward off the cold. Karapinar, located east of Konya, Turkey, is where Tulu carpets have traditionally been woven. This region consists of a semi-desert plain and barren, cold-winter and warm-summer mountain ranges to the north. During the cold winters, villagers used tulu rugs as floor coverings, bed clothes, blankets, and wall hangings. During the summer, they relocated their sheep and goats to the northern mountains to avoid the extreme heat. Tulu carpets reflect the region's mysticism and regional symbolism. These carpets also show Greek influences from previous generations.
Try our all-natural cleaning products and vacuum your rug frequently to keep it in good condition and prolong its lifespan. It's advised to use professional cleaning services for difficult stains.
